Hi, I’m a Tax Lawyer at a Big Four Firm... I think you can have a solo career, but, you should have the previous experience required first! Be sure about that!
Solo Tax Atty here. The toughest part is generating clients - somewhat obviously. Most local Tax Attys around me also have other practice areas - bankruptcy, tax prep, estate planning, etc. as it can be tough to find pure tax clients. But - once you generate a solid base and get a decent marketing plan in place you should be good to go.
Attorney 3 or 4, can you guys expand a bit on the kind of work you do?
For sure - I know quite a few solo tax attorneys. I recommend joining your local bar association and getting on their tax exec committee. I’m also a tax attorney but not solo. At the beginning of my career, I joined bar association and met a bunch of fantastic solo tax attorneys. Good luck!
I already have tons of experience at my BIGLAW firm. I just have no idea how to get the kind of clients that need my expertise as a solo
