Our Philadelphia-area boutique firm whose practice works exclusively with nonprofits and charities is hiring due to growth. Tax is the basis of Exempt Org work. That is why I am posting here. Great practice working to further charitable missions of our clients. Good WLB (1300 hour billable requirement). Opportunity for the right person to work remotely. I've gone the other direction if that counts for anything

Depends on what year you get brought in at, but 1st year associate market base is 190k. There might be some Amlaw 100 firms that don't pay market but I would expect a 1st year salary there is still 150k+.
I’ve also gone the other way, but to corporate rather than tax at a law firm. Have considered going back...
How did it compare? I’m drowning and unhappy in the Manhattan office of a big law firm and I’m planning to move to Seattle and try to draw down the intensity a bit. I’m wondering if I should just look at smaller regional law firms in Seattle or if the big 4 might offer better balance too.
At this point the Manhattan biglaw money just isn’t making it worth it. And with no state or local tax and about 30% lower rent in Seattle, I can take a hefty pay cut and end up with the same economics.
