Navy Yard is awesome. It is probably the best place to live in the city. Luxurious rooftop apartments with several restaurants to choose from. The only con in my opinion is traffic around the Nats games
Sup neighbor! The Chelsea is great and would highly recommend for OP.
Love Navy Yard. Been living there 2.5 years and no regrets. Love my building, the amenities and there are lots of restaurants and many more opening. I don’t agree with the above comment about lack of community, but everyone is different. I live between navy yard and cap south metro so I feel like it’s really easy to get around. Travel often so the ride to DCA is super quick as well, even when traffic is bad.
Being able to eat Rasa once a week has made living in navy yard worth it
I think it really depends on what you’re looking for. If you want a nice apartment with a lot of amenities then navy yard is great. If you want good restaurants/night life and a sense of community, then I don’t think it’s a great place. I lived there for a little over a year and couldn’t wait to move to a place with a better community feel. I ended up in Capitol Hill ( near Lincoln Park) and absolutely loved it. I also really enjoyed living in Dupont
Haha I live right on Lincoln park. Love the quietness of the area, but it sucks that no one is really ever coming my way for social and it’s takes a minimum of 40min to get to a lot of my social by public transit (U street, DuPont, etc)
LOVE navy yard. Tons of restaurants, 2 grocery stores, 4 metro lines within walking distance, super quick lyft to DCA, quiet but accessible to everywhere else, lots of parks and trails nearby, and the biggest collection of luxury apartments anywhere in the city. It's a perfect spot to live unless you're commuting to Bethesda or something.
Update: I’m moving here in a few months! SO FRIGGIN EXCITED!!! 🤩

Come visit and I’m sure we will be welcoming you to the neighborhood. Been here 7 years and it’s great! Sometimes frustrating when baseball season starts (traffic) but them winning a World Series makes it worth it! Just sad they got rid of the McDonald’s... fast food is lacking if there is a negative here.
So actually navy yard area is built on septic pipelines or so I’ve been told. Still a good area but the garages smell horrible in summers
Haha do you live in Ore 82?
Check out SW Waterfront! I moved out here after 2.5 years in DuPont, love it so far. Metro stop on same block, 15 minute walk to the Mall, 15 minutes to DCA. All the buildings are <5 years old, but still close to the wharf and downtown.
Love Navy Yard. I’ve been living there for 4 years. Great new apartment buildings with amenities. Walking distance to the metro, supermarkets, cvs, dry cleaners, banks and restaurants. Very dog friendly. It’s a 15 min uber ride to DCA airport - which makes Mon/Thurs travel really easy. Only problem is traffic during Nats games.
Appreciate you all for weighing in! I plan to take a tour of these properties in the next few months!

Goes towards your preference. Navy yard will have nicer buildings and amenities with newer restaurants and proximity to sports stadiums. That said, it doesn’t have a neighborhood feel like Logan, DuPont, Shaw, etc. and it’s bit far away from a lot of things to do. Just boils down to what you’re looking for. Feels a bit more suburban in my opinion.
