Don’t really know where you can find a 1br for $1600 in DC...the lowest I’ve seen is ~2k. I’ve also heard silver spring is pricey but figure out the specific area you want to live in first and go from there

You can find a 1BR/studio in an older building with no amenities in that price range. Bf previously lived in an English basement in petworth for $1600 and now lives in a large studio next to meridian hill park for $1400. I think his building is called meridian park. Pretty run down and has some funky smells IMO but staff is great

You can find a 1BR around your budget in rent controlled buildings. There are nice well maintained buildings. Have to look or call as most won’t post their prices online.
