Question about background check/security clearance for AUSA. My SF-86 and paperwork were sent from the USAO to investigators about two months ago and I have not heard anything since (not been asked to submit to drug test or anything). Is this normal? For those that have been through the process, how long until you first heard from investigators and how were you contacted (email, snail mail, etc.)?

How do I determine the likelihood of getting a Top Secret Security clearance? I am qualified for a number of federal jobs but haven’t applied because of an allegation of misconduct at my job five years ago. I have plenty of positive equities since then and evidence of rehabilitation for admission to the bar. I just have no idea how much forgiveness is possible in a TS security clearance.
