Recently we were informed we’re no longer allowed to work from home, or have any flexibility (we previously had tons!) because they want people who have a desk in the office to use them, and “our team needs to be visible” … when the entire role is seeing clients In their homes (social services). This has left me feeling like I’m expected to prioritize work over my baby (2 years old). I’m considering a stress leave because it’s affecting my mental/physical health (psychosomatic symptoms). Ideas?

Anyone been able to work from Dubai for a UK/US firm and benefit from no taxes? I know if you are a US citizen you pay taxes where you are globally, but if you are British, then you only pay income tax on UK income - so if you live more than half the year abroad you are classed as non-domicile resident, but wanted to hear if anyone’s done this or heard about it?

How should one properly calculate total comp? Base + bonus + stock options? Should you only include options that vest that year or include the total $ granted that will vest over 4 years?

I’m the sole earner and have a kid, so “just quit!” during a pandemic is not it - and “setting boundaries” ain’t easy when I’m always reachable by text/zoom/email. I’m fortunate to have a job, but damn. Working From Home = Working Forever From Everywhere. And it sucks.

Our annual reviews are approaching & one of my direct reports has been with us for almost six years w/ little growth. My reco was to let him go & find a stronger, hungrier & more motivated designer at the same level. However, my boss instead wants us to promote him in hopes that will spark some motivation. I am not behind this decision & have voiced my multitude of concerns in promoting an employee who doesn't deserve it. HR is behind the decision! Thoughts on promoting an undeserving report?
