When this happens to me. I have looked at it as 2 possibilities:
1) I was presented as a candidate and they weren't interested in moving forward with an interview.
2) The recruiter failed to put me forward and I am waiting for Godot.
I have just chalked it up to being 1 because they make their money getting candidates to be hired.
The reason they ignore me afterwards is because they don't see a good fit for me, found more interesting candidates that they are pushing to their assorted of companies, and don't want to deliver bad news...
But I could also be super pessimistic... But I look at it as being realistic.
That’s a bad professionalism to stop answering someone because someone doesn’t know or like to deliver bad news. This is a borderline bad ethics and I would never work or associate with someone who fits this criteria once I am aware. They are not reliable and the candidates are just wasting their time on this kind of recruiter.
recruiter got layed off
Just experienced this myself. Why do they do this? lol
The recruiter is probably waiting to hear from the hiring manager themselves. Worst case scenario, the recruiter is trying to lock up something with another candidate and is keeping you in play as a backup.
