Saw this article in Adweek that 65% of marketing jobs may not survive AI. While I definitely think the industry will be disrupted, this also feels like an overestimate and instead roles will shift to be more creative and client-focused (at least in an agency setting).

Hi guys Does BofA provide education leave?
Hello - hope everyone is having a great weekend. I'm looking into risk assurance opportunities at Meta, especially Application Manager, Controls (min 5 YOE) and Manager, Compliance (min 12 YOE). I am a Senior Manager with 9 years of IT risks assurance experience. Does anyone have any thought on which position I should apply? If anyone currently at Meta could share your experience, that would also help. If anyone is open to providing referrals, I could provide my background. Facebook (Meta)

65%, 85%, 12%. It’s a number, a moving target. While AI can be overwhelming, anxiety-filled, unknown, it’s here. One needs to adopt, adapt, and innovate. That’s easy to say. But, the real question is can AI solve all the problems and issues in marketing, no. Tasks while be replaced, which allows for job evolution. It’s hard to predict the future. Remember, flying cars are the future. That’s been said for well over 50 years.
Let’s see where the data takes us.
Yes! This reminds me of our CTO who always says AI won’t take your jobs, but those who know how to use AI will. It’s more important than ever to learn how to adopt and adapt to the new landscape.
That is a shame to hear, honestly. This is why everyone is so scared of AI taking their jobs. I am one of the overly optimistic people who believes AI will not take our jobs.
I couldn’t agree more. This data is so disheartening, and it hurts to think entry level talent might be turned away from the industry at large because of this. We’re missing out on great people and ideas!
I'd be pretty skeptical of that number, it sounds like the typical AI hype. It's obvious that AI may cost some lower level jobs, as positions can be consolidated and augmented with AI. Still, anything requiring serious human judgment will be hard to replace.
That’s how I feel too! Sure, our jobs will shift significantly. But LLMs are clearly hitting their capacity which is mediocre at best. I can’t imagine they’ll truly take over careers

This article was written by AI. 😂 I don’t know if 65% is high or underestimating, none of us do for sure. However the one thing I am optimistic and holding out hope for is the jobs that will be created from this that we don’t see yet. That has happened with every tech advancement. Will work change? Absolutely it is being reshaped but there may be no focus and opportunities even if marketing and advertising as we know it won’t be the same.
Hahaha I couldn’t agree more! 65% feels waaaay too high. And with LLMs hitting their maximum capacity, I can’t imagine they’ll be fully taking over our careers. Sure the industry will look different, but we can learn to adapt and fit into the technology at hand.
AI is a tool, it can and should be used to take on some of the more basic functions in marketing but it still needs human intervention to check that what it is producing is factually correct. I use it every day but it isn’t me, it doesn’t form relationships with customers, it isn’t in the lab talking to scientists about their pinch points and seeing how we can provide a solution.
