Hi everyone. Is it typical for the attorney to take credit for the work a paralegal does? An example: I gave some ideas about deposition questions and some observations I made (I was asked about giving suggestions) regarding a witness and the attorney mentioned that he’s the one that had these great questions/observations. Zero credit or thank you for the work I did.

Not typical. But that person’s success will only last so long relying on folks junior to them. On the other hand, this sounds like a casual exchange of ideas? Maybe he doesn’t think about it like they are *your* ideas? Just throwing that out there.

Yes. It is.

It happens often or the office manger takes credit for “managing you.”

I now run the office and an in charge of payroll, project management, tracking expenses, paying material companies, paying subs, excel spreadsheet management, and pretty much anything and everything to keep a companies office up and running. We are a fairly small construction company grossing 7 figures per year. I am currently being paid $17 per hour. Does this sound appropriate?

I’ve been working as a Paralegal a little over two months…and I don’t like it. This is not to say I don’t like being a paralegal (I love it), but I don’t understand how work at this firm is not distributed properly. How are attorneys giving legal assistants billable work? Also, it’s very frustrating to work in an environment that’s very inconsistent. They say “ask questions”, but what do you do when everyone’s answer is different. I’m just trying to figure out protocol, but it seems nonexistent.

Looking for some guidance

You guys have seen me on here before, I have the toxic boss who accused me of having an interview on a day I took for my mental health anyways.
In June we had a meeting, it was big. I told said boss I don’t like how they talk to me xyz. In the meantime between then and things have improved (I also found out I was undermedicating myself for 4 months on anxiety meds)
I get called into the partners office today to discuss my attitude and to write me up for

Thoughts/suggestions on types of jobs that are *not* paralegal jobs, but that my paralegal degree & experience could be beneficial?

I’m so burnt out from law that I’m starting to think I need to do something else. I can’t keep handling the constant stress from having to do my attorney’s job for them since they’re too scatterbrained to handle most of it themself.
