Received a Tissot as a gift, don’t know much about watches so figured I’d ask in here what the general reputation / reaction would be before wearing one at work. Ok to wear as an associate? I’m not a huge luxury watch person (hope to learn more) but I like the style, wear watches often, and appreciate the craftsmanship.

I am new to luxury watches and plan is to

1) buy 1 watch that is under 500$ to start with. If I enjoy wearing it and having it.

2) buy Omega under 4-5K, 1 year later if the first watch gives me joy and pride.

Want to know what should I start with for step 1 above? Is Tissot V8 Swissmatic a good watch for starters?(240$ on Amazon). Looking for preferably automatic ones.
