I totally get that feeling, but you shouldn’t feel bad for taking care of yourself and your family. Teaching is demanding enough without adding extra pressure. Hopefully, your supervisors see the bigger picture because LIFE happens! If you’re still getting the job done, that should matter more than just the numbers.

I have a feeling I will probably use up the rest of my personal days before the end of the year. My 8th Graders are off the chain!
After 10 years in this job, I’m usually able to push through, but this winter has knocked me flat. I’ve used way more sick days already than I normally do in a whole year, and it’s hard not to worry that someone’s counting and questioning my commitment. But then I think, what’s the alternative? Coming in sick and running on empty doesn’t help my students. And when my own kids are sick, they need me. It’s a lose-lose if I try to do it all.

It os the same with me, and several of my tracher friends. This year has been a tough year.
Entirely dependent on your supervisors. I have had some of the nicest, most sincerely caring people around in my district, and some of the worst, nastiest, people around too. You never really know what you’ll get. I do have to say it seemed like everything took a turn for the worse in that regard over the past couple years where I’m at.

I am sorry that it has been rough. I think when there is toxicity in a building it affects everyone. We have had some tension in our front office and the admin department. It affects everyone when you can feel the undercurrent of conflict.
Unfortunately, we are all expendable. Without pause, someone will be on deck, ready to take your place if anything happens to you. So take care of yourself. No one else is going to. There is no place in the world for that kind of guilt. This is why you have days available in the first place.

This is exactly what my husband tells me anytime I'm stressing about taking time off.

I'm taking a personal day on Wednesday. After last week, my nerves are busted
