It happens and it will pass! One thing that worked well for us was putting a full-size floor bed in my kiddo’s room. If she wakes up at night we’ll make an attempt to get her to go back to sleep by herself. If that doesn’t work, one of us will sleep in her room with her. We still get sleep because it’s a comfortable bed, and I think she sleeps better other nights knowing we’ll be there if she needs us. She sleeps great by herself like 90-95% of the time.
I think there's an increase in separation anxiety around that age! Maybe increased awareness, realizing they will be apart from mom and dad the whole night, idk. We just lay down with him and cuddle for like 15 - 20 mins as part of the bedtime routine (he's in a twin bed). Then we do the "i'll come back in 5 mins and check on you" thing where we increase the time more and more til he falls asleep
Around 2.5 our kid started protesting his nap and we are currently in the process of trying to drop it cuz if he naps he refuses bedtime for HOURS. Its tough cuz some days he does really need the nap still. But we did end up moving his bedtime a little later around that time. Not sure if you are there yet
