My background is in tech transactional. I joined a cybersecurity SaaS startup at the end of last year and now also handle more generalist matters in addition to all things commercial-related. I have a number of books on contracts that I’ve found super helpful over the years (The Tech Contracts Handbook, A Manual of Style for Contract Drafting, Sign Here, etc.). Can anyone recommend books they’ve found helpful for L&E matters, privacy matters, product matters, or marketing/advertising matters?

If you're dealing with GDPR, read the ICO's guide for organizations. It's a well-structured primer on privacy issues. If you're dealing with CCPA, google a law firm's CCPA guide and read the regs. If you need further privacy guidance, check out the DataGuidance tool by OneTrust.

The FTC has decent guidance for things like CAN-SPAM and advertising.

Not satisfied at my current job and want to transition to tech. Did a bootcamp 3 years ago and I’m getting back into coding now as I’m interested in being a SWE, but the thought I may never be good enough to get a job as I struggle with Leetcode/building projects gives me anxiety. I have recently started thinking about getting into tech sales. If you could start over and choose tech sales or SWE, which would you go with, taking total compensation, WLB, and career satisfaction into consideration?

I was wondering if the review course “CPE Self Study Course” for the CFF was enough preparation to study and pass the CFF exam. The CFE review course was enough and like if you get a question wrong it explains it well so that when it comes up in a different way in the real exam you can still get it. But when I saw the outline for the CFF material and there seems to be a lot of topics so I was wondering if the review course was sufficient considering this exam is also multiple choice. Thanks!

I have not been on a project for over 3 months. Since I joined, I have been put in training. The training got extended by a month and now it's close to 4 months since I joined and without a project.

What should I do? People say that I'm lucky to get paid without doing any work, but it is stressing me out. I need the experience. The uncertainty is freaking me out, with rumours of layoffs and the certification program and all.

How do I get into a project? How long do I have to wait more?

Thinking of getting my SHRM-SCP, anyone out there have it? Is it worth it?

I currently work in marketing and my position has grown into more of a partner/business development role. I received my MBA and have about 5 years of work experience.

Does anyone have tips on how to pivot to a PM role? My interviews have been a little difficult to bridge the gap to be a PM.

How does contract to hire work? If I’m offered $37/hr on w2 for 3 months and then possibly a permanent position, how much can I expect to get annually as a full time company employee as a BI data analyst II? I have a M.S. and certificates in DA but this will be my first job as DA.
I prefer working for what is offered on contract without negotiating, and then negotiate when I transition into the company itself so I have a better chance of getting the contract position and show my skills.

For those working in house, how much “from scratch” document drafting are you doing vs. reviewing and revising “outside documents”. For example, if your company wants to enter into a joint venture company with another entity, are you drafting the company agreement “from scratch” or is it based on internal forms? Or are you getting outside counsel to do it?
