Do any of you spend time on HNBA or other affinity organizations? If so, do you bill your time as non-billable, i.e. diversity? And how do you balance your time going to an events/getting involved?

Have you found a Latinx mentor in your office? How many Latinx attorneys do you work alongside? For my first two years, the answer has been no and zero.

I’m a third year associate wanting to leave my second law firm. My first two years of practice I was at a small firm and left to a mid-size firm to practice insurance defense. I have enjoyed the practice but not the firm. The firm’s culture is toxic. The firm has had 7 attorneys leave in the last year. Is it wrong for me to wanting to leave? Will i give the impression of being a job hopper? Does it really matter?

I received an email with an update last week, essentially saying that the interview went well and they would follow up with me. It’s been about a week. Should I follow up? If so, any advice on how to write that email?

I graduated from law school in 2019, followed by a 2 yr bk clerkship. I did the evening program. I really enjoyed law school, in spite of the microaggressions, the late nights, & crazy competition. Hi! I am super new to this app and I see a consistent ask about latina(x) mentors. Has anyone been able to find one and how? I am still looking and frankly could you use all the support. I am the only latina in my office and culturally sometimes I hit these invisible walls that make me feel so incredibly self conscious. I am the first to have a degree in my family so they do support me but there’s a huge gap. I want to know how to navigate big law/private practice without losing myself & culture
