There is a massive market for used strollers at deep discounts. Signed, someone whose wife bought five strollers for one baby.
Yes. A stroller is really put through the grind, and it is something you need to be able to count on day in day out.
City mini gt. Used it for all 3 kids. Highly recommend. Bro has an uppababy and we actually liked the city mini more
Never tell your pregnant wife no
At the time I was furious that we paid $1600 for a damn push chair, Uppababy Vista. However, it’s the best thing, super well engineered, I dropped it down a flight of stairs and nothing happened. Love the thing, do it.
The up pa baby is so wide. Can barely fit through the supermarket aisle. Ridiculous. Get the baby jogger city select. Or Citi mini gt much better.
This is like asking what car you should get without telling us your use cases.
When it comes to strollers do you prioritize weight, features, longevity, off road ability, compactness when folded, etc.?
Will you travel (by plane) with the stroller? Take it up and down stairs of an apartment building? Use it on long walks on grass or uneven terrain?
Don’t take ANY advice from someone that hasn’t asked those questions.
Personally, I got a jogging stroller because the firm’s health and fitness subsidy paid for half of it. It’s heavy, but we rarely fold it and need it for uneven sidewalks. We also have a joovy umbrella stroller that we used at Disney and that’s easier to fold up. It struggles with anything but flat pavement though.
It’s worth it. I’ve had mine for over 2 years and it’s still going strong!
Gupta ji - I feel you. Though it really is an emotional decision at some level than a financial one. That being said, we are also expecting, and I am going to splurge on baby stuff, as we are happy and don’t want to save 200 dollars here and there on stuff. If the uppa baby feels like too much, look up the mockingbird- it’s an amazing piece for 500 with literally the same features :)
Definitely worth it. 7 years later and still working.
That sounds outrageous unless you’re using it for a specific purpose. We got a B.O.B. Single running stroller bc my wife and I are both marathoners and then when we had our second, we bought a used double B.O.B. Both of those strollers have gone through hell and are able to withstand just about anything you throw at them - road or otherwise, we take them everywhere.
A stroller should function for your purpose. If your purpose is to show off to your neighbors for spending so much while walking down the sidewalk or grocery asile, then that’s your deal.
We just had baby 2 and have an uppababy. Not sure which one, but we were able to add the attachment to have the toddler and bassinet on at once. And then there is a rumble seat that goes with the toddler seat once baby is big enough. So in our case, it was nice to not have to buy a whole new stroller for a double stroller. That is also dependent on how close together you plan to have kids (if you even do).
Buy used
We have the uppababy Vista with all the attachments for the second baby as well. We have enjoyed it. Before buying it initially I couldn't believe you could spend so much on a stroller. Also if you buy the travel bag, the warranty is great for airline damages
Second all recommendations to buy second hand.
The people who got taken to the cleaners on these things always say it’s worth it to save face. In our case we really wanted the Nuna one...I forget the model name but the bigger one. For ~$1K+. Instead bought the Chicco Urban that’s normally like $4-500 on a sale for $250ish. It has most all the features of the fancy model we looked at, it just doesn’t fold up as compact.
It’s been totally awesome. It’s all aluminum has locking wheels and suspension and adjustable handle bar and millions of recline settings and reversible seats and everything else. If it was not COVID and we actually went lots of places in the car and took this thing I would wish it was smaller. But same would go for the vista or nuna or most of them. I think we may buy a second more compact model later, which I would have done anyway with the luxury model.
It is most certainly NOT worth it to buy a luxury stroller as cheaper models do the job exactly the same and hold up just as long. If you want a leather handle and status with your fiends then get uppababy. All our friends told us to buy these fancy models. They also told me to buy Hunter Douglas window shades and a Sub Zero refrigerator. I didn’t get to be a millionaire early by listening to such advice. That’s the same reason you buy a Mercedes. It’s not that it is actually a better or more dependable car than a Honda Accord. Pay more when you get more—I do it all the time. A stroller is not one of those products. YMMV.
MD1 point is so true. However I remain unswayed and stand by my stance 😂
Worth it. Their aftercare service and warranty is great. We bought a Cruz for our firstborn but felt it was slightly too bulky so sold it and got a Minu when he was around 10 mo. Then bought the adapters for the Mesa car seat and dropped it in with our second baby.
Minu is a warhorse. Thrown so much crap at it. There was a problem with the folding mechanism after nearly two years of use and they gave us a brand new frame.
2 kids. Bought a stroller but feel it’s an inconvenience and use it once or twice for the older one. When they are a bit older like 2, we just put them into a $30 umbrella stroller.
We would rather strap the baby on us with a strapper when we go out.
Suggest looking at the Doona for the first 7-10 months - it's a hybrid stroller and car seat, works really well. We also have the Uppa but haven't used it much
