A female friend of mine recently received a settlement in a sexual harassment action against her employer during mediation. Upon receiving her (female) attorney’s final bill she was blown away to discover that her attorney charged her almost five times what the attorney estimated she would charge for the mediation. (The attorney was drinking alcohol during the Zoom mediation and settled for far less than she estimated she would get.) [continued below]

Feels like I spend all day every day on zoom. Are any companies less meeting heavy, and if so how do you do it?

How do you encourage your partner to take up more slack in household duties? He’s not a “lazy” person but just doesn’t consider doing any chores. I’m tired of asking him to do a chore everyday. Today, instead of folding the small load of laundry I left on the sofa before logging into work early he just sat on top of it...the whole day (mind you he’s not even working today). Looking for advice on project management software or tools for HR consulting. Our firm doesn’t have anything that is standard or used at all, and while some of us are starting to venture into using Microsoft Teams, I feel like there are so many tools out there and we could be doing things way more efficiently. We work in small client teams (1-3 team members per client usually) and it’s a mix of strategy, tactical, and outsourced HR work. Any suggestions?

I’ve seen a lot of recruiters recently trying to hire for advisory consulting firms that claim they do the work that Big 4 can’t because of independence issues. Does anyone think these types of firms are sustainable or will big 4 find a way around the independence restrictions and take this work back?
I joined EY GDS few months ago (Dec'21), I wanted to check
1) on Diwali occasion will we get any vouchers or gifts ?
2) What did they give last year?
I’m thinking of treating myself to a watch to celebrate some recent successes, and have narrowed it down to either a Datejust 36 with the blue sunburst dial and stick markers or a white dial Daytona. A friend of mine, who is something of a whale, can get me the Daytona at list with no issues. However, I’m concerned the Daytona makes too much of a statement and will bring unwanted attention in a way the DJ would not. What are your thoughts?

From what I read the country has an epidemic that is growing at an enormously fast pace! It seems administration all around the country thinks they can go ahead and behave as if nobody else matters in a school district! Their hypocrisy is an embarrassment and their self-management BS needs to stop! The unions aren't doing anything about it mine believe my administration before me even! We're greater in number and we need to stop the bullying and harassment directed at teachers and students!
What are some of the coolest ways you’ve been shown appreciation? From admin, teachers, staff, students, parents?
I wish admin utilized Tier 1 supports with teachers. Smiles, appreciations and acknowledging ones efforts would do a great deal to boost morale and climate. I just don’t understand what that is so hard to do.
Anyone work at a school who that puts on plays or uses video of the stunt body or staff acting out what the school values are?
The hostility on my team is rough. We have a yeller. I walked by her room the other day. She was screaming across the room at a student, "you have to be kind to get kindness." Seriously, those were her words in a loud, berating, angry tone. Our admin has asked that we not report these. We are to talk to the teacher. She has yelled at me and other adults. Admin has to know she treats the kids this way too. One teacher has to work with her door closed to not hear the yelling all day.

Maybe it's just me, but I feel like my building, and all of its stakeholders, are not on the same page, and it has created a chaotic school culture. What can I do to help unite an entire school?

Our district is so lax on the students this year. With tech issues and distance learning days, we’ve gone from accommodating to enabling real quick. No penalties for late work, taking excuses for attendance, lower academic and behavioral standards... We were beginning to make so much progress on transforming our school culture, but this year is erasing that and then some. Is anyone else concerned about how to raise the expectations and students’ self-discipline back to pre-enabling levels?
Anyone been part of a successful, school culture transformation from one that is completely accepting of mediocrity to one that collectively strives for excellence?
