Absolutely. For me, it's less about political loyalty and more about consistency. If a brand claims to stand for something, I expect them to follow through, especially when it’s inconvenient. If they fold under pressure, it’s hard to trust them with my money.

It’s not a cost issue for me. It just doesn’t seem like there are a lot of local shops around me for the goods I used to get at those places. I support local bookstores and restaurants but broader retail seems harder. An example of something I need that I can’t find locally is replacement heads for my Philips sonicare toothbrush. I don’t have a local mom and pop store that sells them, so I guess I’ll go to Costco. 🤷🏽♀️
I agree that the DEI cowardice damages a brand, and there are people who will not forgive that kind of behavior. But I think the decline in foot traffic is also because of general uncertainty in the economy. Consumer confidence numbers have been declining and I don't see that getting any better with all that's happening. So at a time when companies should be improving their public image, they're essentially sabotaging it.
