Yep I remember this well. They always think you make SOOOO much money. When in fact, we do not make much more at all.

Exactly! It feels very deceiving that you have a title of a manager but only getting a pay for a regular employee.
I actually took a pay cut because managers can't get overtime where associates actually can. Sometimes I'd be cutting checks that were way higher than mine for people who had a lot less stress!

How sad it feels. Right? For me, the only reason I took that position was to get some experience so that I can move to some better company.
I was an ASM at a vape store making $14 an hour. After i left my co-worker was promoted to store manager making $16 an hour. This is in a high income area too.
My last job where I was completely overworked and underpaid.... it seems to be a cycle!

Yup! You are right. Even for me, every job had a lot of workload but bare minimum pay.
I can't think of a job where I wasn't feeling like I was below my pay grade. I've worked with companies that think giving shift leads 25 cents above minimum is good (and then they wonder why we struggle to find good shift leads). Being salaried, there are many times that it feels like I have worked so many hours, I cannot be making minimum wage.

When I worked at this retail store, I would take any extra shift, but when the paycheck came it was ridiculous.
