The longer I work, the more I see that it's the quietest ones who get the most work done. Is this true for your workplace too?

The introverted quiet people can get more work done because they are not spending time chatting with everyone. However, they are putting themselves at risk during layoffs since often performance is not a factor, and those with the most ingrained relationships are spared.

Also, just because they are quiet, doesn't mean they get more work done that someone who is chatty. If a quiet person takes longer to process information or think through the best way to say something, is a slower typer, or even spends more time doing personal things on their phone, all of those could mean a quiet person may not necessarily get more work done than a chattier, extroverted person.

The chatty employees may get less done because they spend more time talking to others. On the other hand, this can lead them to crucial information that they wouldn't have gotten otherwise (a media relations person may find out about upcoming wins or projects to announce that otherwise would have gone under the radar or have been pushed up to them too late to prepare an effective campaign around). And if a chattier person is also a fast typist, uses AI, is a quick thinker and uses tools effectively, they can get as much work done as a slower, quiet person.

Therefore, I'd say there is no hard and fast rule about productivity of quiet people vs. chattier people. However, when it comes to self-aggrandizing people that come off as pompous who toot their own horn, often they do actually not get as much done as the less self-important people, and simply milk their rarer accomplishments for all they're worth (and said accomplishments were often achieved thanks to much/most of the work being done by other people who the pompous folks often don't even give appropriate credit to).

I agree but like the other commentator said, frustratingly this means that the quieter people tend to get overlooked!

Pretty sure it’s always like this throughout life- not just in work!

We are looking to restructure our marketing team (B2B IT services) and one of the questions I have is: how does recruitment marketing / employer branding fit into the marketing team?
Over the last year EB and RM have become increasingly larger parts of our team’s work, but it’s not part of the marketing commercial targets (just helping recruitment meet their targets). Are they completely separate in your company? Or part of the team and if so how?

Senpais, looking back, if you had known more about your specialty, would you still have chosen it? If not, which specialty would you have preferred to enter? And why?
