The right to refuse service in the US - I know we all have a few horror stories where we wish we have refused service to someone. Generally we can refuse service to someone as long as it is not for discriminatory reasons such as race, religion, gender, etc. However we can for things like disruptive and rude behavior, safety risks and "dress code" violation. It is up to local and state laws, and it's best to have a sign visible.

There has been a lot of rudeness lately and I'm tempted.

Our store has very strict policies about when we can refuse service and when we can't, and it is almost always up to the manager to make the final choice. I wish it was something they did more often, because we have to tolerate being yelled at by a lot of people way too often.

I was just talking about this with a friend yesterday. Coming out of the covid lockdowns, I had a bunch of hope. That lasted 12 hours. People have actually gotten WORSE, despite everything.

Historically, I have only banned people for language (you get one f-bomb, and I remind you that this is a family establishment. After the 2nd one, I am asking you to leave), but I have been so tempted to start weilding the ban-hammer more and more.

Unfortunately, everywhere I’ve worked only the manager gets to decide if we get to refuse service with somebody. So even if I’m being mistreated by a customer it doesn’t really matter unless the manager sees and cares.

How do y’all deal with people at work who are stuck on stupid? Like they have no idea what they’re talking about and they REFUSE to learn. It’s like they have a god complex or something even with proof, maybe bc of their tenure at the company? Even if there’s valid data backing up that they’re wrong. Maybe it’s bc I’m a type 8 enneagram, but it frustrates the hell out of me!
So any advice would be lovely :)

Sharks and other fishes,
I need some career advice,
In my current company I think the development portion I've been given is kinda simple, I've asked my manager and seniors to level up my work and stuff, *which they did* but I kinda caught up.. now what should I do, should I ask them to level up again or look for better opportunities
Also, I had some Interest in CyberSecurity and I grinded it on my pre-final semester at Uni, should I try on that path as well or should I stick to development?
