This new company I joined only pays us once a month. We'll get paid on the 5th of each month. Has anyone ever heard of this? Have you ever worked at a job that didn't pay weekly, or at least twice a month?

I have worked for the State of California for over 20 years and we get paid once a month

Most companies in the UK pay monthly only. Its the norm here

I live and work in Nigeria, we get paid monthly, it is more uncommon to be paid weekly.

I’ve heard of it and have a friend that’s paid monthly. I was weekly early in my career but have been bi-weekly for over 10 years.

Heard of it, haven’t experienced it - but I’m surprised that this wasn’t brought to your attention either during the interview stage or while reviewing the offer letter.

Any offers I’ve extended (even contract or international) are very explicit about pay rates and schedules, so this seems like an oversight or miscommunication.

However, as others have noted - some countries it’s customary and some companies just choose to pay their employees on a different cadence.

Very common especially with salary. It’s cheaper to run one big payroll once per month than multiple payrolls.

My country’s standard payout is once a month

Hello everyone ,
I’m currently working in insurance customer service at an agency. I work in the mortgage department assisting w mortgage changes , payments etc. I’ve been thinking about becoming a claims adjuster most likely for property damage . Is it worth it ??? I hear a lot of talk about how claims adjusting is a lot of work and very demanding but I think my current position has prepared me for the challenge. What are some good companies I maybe should apply for after getting my license?
