That sounds like an absolute terrible idea.
If you insist, you could put a pay range... This at least keeps them guessing a little bit.
But this seems like an easy way to get rejected before they really look at your resume.
That's a bad idea. The purpose of a cover letter is to highlight things not in your resume. But including a salary requirement may make things difficult for you. Given how tricky it can be to get an interview, you don't want to appear to be making any demands in a cover letter. Once you're in an interview it makes sense to interject some salary discussion.
