Pre-pandemic most people I knew took the T and/or commuter rail. Parking was way too $$$ (plus, traffic).

I take the commuter rail into the office. Why you ask?

That’s pretty pricey parking but you should be able to use pretax dollars for some of it. Ask the firm if they have a program, my firm will let you use pretax for parking or commuting costs.
Usually doesn’t bc the tax incentive is usually to encourage public transit use but could be different there
Not sure where in back bay but the 100 Clarendon garage has a $25/day program which is nice if you’re not in office 5 days/wk
It’s $21/day if you park on the roof.
Just curious to see if it’s common for associates to spend the 400-500 bucks for monthly parking. Commuter rail unfortunately isn’t much of an option for me because I commute from south of Boston and work in Back Bay. So I’d have to switch onto the green line from South Station which is a mess.
I’d say not common for people to pay for parking. Almost everyone I worked with used some form of transit. I used to take the commuter rail (either South Station or Back Bay) and walk to my office in Back Bay/Prudential.
