Hey guys, I'm an ex-Bain consultant building a presentation app that shows ways to visualize insights clearly and quickly. We turn blanks into 60% WIP materials in seconds and have an early demo at depiction.ai - would love to hear what ya'll think! Brutally honest feedback would be much appreciated.

It really is hard! The hardest part for me was finding my own style and trying to balance the needs of the team with my responsibility to deliver on client projects. Some days it feels like you can't win with anyone honestly, but it's better since I've settled into my own way of managing and stopped trying to be a copy of my boss or my reports' favorite person.
I've had to ask my bosses to give me room to show that my style gets results even though it's a little different/ softer than theirs. Whenever I can, I work with the team to knock it out of the park so we have a little more grace when I need to push back.
With the team, I try to listen to them and explain more about why I'm asking for things, but ultimately still hold them to high standards. Feeling heard and respected goes a long way. I will push and give hard feedback when I need to, but I think I've developed trust by also giving lots of positive feedback and having their backs.
I hope it gets better for you!!
Thank you!

This all sounds too familiar...only advice is prioritize your team over your LT but let some of the pressure trickle down so they shoulder it too from a responsibility perspective. Do what you can to stay on top of whats happening so you can give on demand accurate updates, and say no/delegate for things you think others can do. It gets easier the more you do it...its not your responsibility to single handedly make everything a success. But know the fundamental role you play and do that part really well...
Also the relationship part is really fundamental. People dont have to like you but they do need to trust and respect you. The more trust/respect you have with your team and your LT, clients, stakeholders, etc the more confidence people will have that you are doing the best you can to deliver results given circumstances.
You have to work smarter. Pick top 3 things you HAVE to do and then leave the rest for next day. Bucket smaller tasks that you can squeeze in somewhere. You can do it. Take a pause and tell yourself, you will be surprised that yes, you did it. Believe that you can do it. Don’t think all tasks together. Nope…just top 3 and then make it happen
Thank you, this is really helpful
Here to say I feel this too & appreciate everyone’s helpful tips! Glad to know I’m not alone.
