Watch experts - this is the ideal watch for my girlfriend. $8.75k but it’s a bit too much for a Christmas gift. This is more of a wedding gift. But there are 2 alternative options in the comments. Tbh never heard of the brands so would love any feedback

Olive dial is gorgeous, may be my next one. Very nice gift.

Get a Cartier, this one or a Tank.. super classy timeless pieces

Id probably wait for it as a wedding gift, otherwise there will be two green dials in her collection that may not get much use after the Rolex

like

Follow up, this is one of the very popular models; not a ton in circulation yet, so if you do want one, start looking now. If you needed it tomorrow they’re between 12-14ish last I saw.

Don’t buy your girl a Rolex if you don’t have one first IMO

likefunny

And why can’t this girlfriend buy one for herself?? Lol

$3.5k

Nomos is cool, they’re their own vibe, not trying to be a Rolex knockoff. Honestly unless you have a very strong relationship with a Rolex AD you are probably not going to be able to grab that Rolex for many many months if they put you on a real waitlist instead of the one where they secretly pretty much toss your name in the trash as soon as you walk out

like

Wait lists are crumbling lately, fyi

Nomos is a great brand and one that is both well respected and popular. Baume & Mercier is respected enough, but is a tad uninspiring/boring and not particularly in demand.

That said, will this satisfy the itch or just be a poor substitute for the watch you really want to get her? If it’s the latter, wait until you can get what you want to get. Also a major factor: will she care? No need to overthink it if she’s agnostic to the options.

I might just save the Rolex for a wedding gift. But she needs to replace her old Michael kors watch from high school. Thoughts? $800

She actually got me a movado as a gift 2 years ago

From one ZSer to another, if she’s getting a Rollie and not a ring, she’s either gonna kill u or she knows she’s side chick status

Oh geez, great point totally skipped over that. Yes, I wouldn’t spend more than $1k (somewhat arbitrary) on a watch for her until you get her some finger jewelry first, otherwise she’ll wonder what’s going on.

$1.9k

How about a grand seiko? It’s not the dark green, but this one is shipping in November (37mm)

That Green Grand Seiko is decadent. Rolex is a staple, Cartier personifies elegance, but if she likes green and you’re looking to put a ring on her finger. In horological circles Grand Seiko to me is in a class of its own similar to A. Lange Sohne (w/o the additional zero).

Talk about a talking piece.

OP your heart is in the right place she’ll love whatever you get her.

I’d go Datejust but consider the women’s size - this is the size that I’d buy. It works for both but will wear large on a woman’s wrist.

Find an AD who also sells jewelry and diamonds. If you buy a rock, they’ll likely hook you up, especially if you’re trying to make it a surprise wedding present.

As others have said, this color combo is in demand and not easily obtainable. Don’t get a “knock-off” that looks like it. Get what is wanted.

Go with a Cartier man

If you aren't willing to spend, you may find a reasonably-priced Lorier. I understand it takes time to saddle up the pocketbook for a wristwatch

Looking to buy Rolex OP. Thoughts on new vs used? Is the additional ~2k worth it for new?

I put a deposit down on a Rolex for my wife last November with my local dealer. Nice guy and no reason to doubt it as I underwent here were a lot of delays with Rolex. He initially said they’d expect it in 3-4 months and has since said they’re working to fulfill all orders by end of June. Is this ridiculous or sound about right?
