How do you wind down after a rough day?
I got a remote L6 SWE offer at Google but the RSUs are too low for that level ($625k over 4 years), could not negotiate it higher. I’ve accepted the offer but trying to be hopeful that I could make it more equitable in the future if I perform well. Repeat after me: Tudor is not Rolex. And even then, getting a Rolex just because they don’t depreciate is... unintelligent - you could have a watch you actually like.
You’ll get an OK price on it, maybe a bit equivalent to an Omega, probably more than that if you want a Black Bay model that’s not immediately available.

Why buy it then
I personally believe that you only get to truly experience a watch fully when you own it. Buying a watch that you are not sure about is totally acceptable, while owning you can make up your mind, sometimes you fall in love with the price after a while or the other way around. In this scenario (and some others) is totally acceptable to have an exit strategy. Very few watches offer this type of option with little consequence however, the Tudor GMT is not one of those watches, if you buy retail and try to sell you'll most certainly lose money.
Never buy a watch thinking it’ll be an “investment”. That could be a factor, but never a justifier. Best advice I’ve gotten was in this forum. If you set that money on fire would you be okay? Because that’s kinda what happens.

The Rolex phenomenon of not depreciating is new (last couple of years and generally only certain sport models). It hasn’t always been the case and likely won’t be again at some point. However, Rolexes did depreciate less than most historically.
