Toronto ad fish 🤠 I’ve spent most of my career working as a copywriter in London (6 years here, 2 years Toronto) and the market is pretty different here. I’m planning on moving back home but wondered….how do you find work in Toronto? Agencies barely post openings, is the recruiter scene strong? Is it mostly who you know?

john st. probably had the same problem Grip did: clients who only buy mediocre, prescribed work then blame the agency when the mediocre, prescribed work the clients forced the agency to make didn’t perform then blamed the agency.
Telco and QSR life…no amount of marketing can save them
If there’s an RFP, agency leads be warned:
The revenue they’ll bring in isn’t worth the burnout and departure of your (best) employees. Just don’t do it.
Hopefully they add scope to the US agency.
No amount of advertising will convince people that KFC is good.

Are the leaving John St?
Do you think this will result in layoffs at john st.? There aren’t too many clients left there.
john st is WPP; everything results in layoffs. Ogilvy even did a round of layoffs right after they won TD.
There were such high hopes when you won it. Such brand building potential. Hope the agency can restructure easily around the change.
Where are they going? Is there an RFP?

Who fired who?
A client could threaten to murder every person at the agency and WPP would offer to reduce fees to keep them.
