We did this by diluting with more and more water until my kid was no longer interested. That worked for us.
Do you have a bedtime routine without the bottle? Pajamas on, brush hair, read story, sing a song, etc.? I’d create something like that if you don’t and make that take its place.
For our kids it wasn’t too traumatic because we just removed the bottle from the rest of the routine. We did reduce the amount of milk in the bottle over time first.
Completely normal toddler behavior. My daughter did this last night. Went to the bathroom, laid down, and then asked to go potty again. Told her no the second time and she finally went to bed
Routine really helped my small human - and sleep stories!
And blackout blinds!!
No screens for at least 1-hour before bed
I get them ready for bed, read a chapter or two of the book we are reading, pop on a sleep story and stay while they settle and then (gradually) shortened the time I would stay with them.
Gently encourage them to close eyes, lie still, get cosy, favourite teddy etc
Sometimes rubbing their back can help
Different things may work at different times and each child is different. Good luck :)
She's going to struggle. She had something to soothe her and that was ripped away. Help her find a healthy replacement. A stuffed animal? Or when I weaned of the boob at 2yrs old, it was gradual. Then I would let my kids snuggle close to the boob but turtleneck on. I wouldn't put them to sleep but would give them 3-5min of cuddle then put them down and walk out.
