NYC. 7 years of experience. Best year plaintiff side was $250k total comp. That included some of my own referrals that weren’t huge
I am HCOL city, 15 years and mine is around 325k. I am just getting the sense that firm attorneys with no ownership top out at around that number or less on the plaintiff side

Yeah or alternatively you just bring in a ton of your own cases. Friend of mine brought in 25+ cases a year of his own and after 5-6 years of developing that pipeline him getting 1/3 of the fee (agreed upon split with his firm) he was easily clearing north of $500k a year. He did end up going out on his own but he would say to me there’s something to be said about making that much money and not having to worry about all of the extra stuff that goes into running your own business/firm.
I’m in the southeast. After practicing for six years, I was able to clear $200K at a personal injury firm. The following year was much better ($500K+) due to the number of referrals I generated. You want a base salary, a percentage of the fees on all cases, and a higher percentage on cases you generate yourself. That seems to be the formula for hitting these numbers.
Use social media to your advantage. Post about what you do and your recoveries. Sponsor community events and actually show up and talk to people. Tell lawyers that don’t to PI to refer cases to you.
