What are some higher-end cars that won't make you look pretentious? I'm thinking "lowkey luxury" or "understated and classy"

Koenigsegg and pagani are pretty understated.

Ahh…so you live in Monte Carlo? What’s it like? lol

I appreciate understated comfort. We got a Grand Cherokee L Overland with a v8. It has all of the luxury features of a Mercedes GLS and an MSRP of $80k. But the average person just sees it as a regular jeep and makes no assumptions about the driver.

Lexus. Let’s be honest: BMW and MB don’t scream elitism any more. So I guess this brands as well? I mean in my area every four or fifth car is a BMW or Mercedes.

I’d broaden this to include the top trim levels of many mass market brand SUVs— Expedition, Grand Cherokee, Grand Highlander, Wagoneer, Atlas… They have all the comfort/luxury features of premium brand vehicles, but the average person on the street just sees it as a regular car.

People that laughed at my Genesis comment clearly ignored the OP’s request which was high-end cars that are lowkey + understated + classy. None of the mainstream German luxury brands are understated/lowkey in the slightest and can easily be associated with being pretentious. On the flip side, no one knows Genesis cars despite the fact that they are indeed luxury, making them easily lowkey. Their looks are also pretty classy IMO..

Honestly coming from the perspective of an automotive technician I can tell you that your best bet is Alexis or a Toyota I say Lexus cuz that's the luxury brand for Toyota but parts and repairs are much cheaper on those than they are on a BMW or Mercedes Plus the Lexus is much more reliable and the Toyota is much more reliable and they have fewer breakdowns

like

There’s no such thing as understated luxury in cars.

Depends on the area, in the DC area almost everyone has an Acura, Lexus, Mercedes, Audi, BMW. The cars that stick out are actual exotics like Ferrari/lambo/Bentley etc or new money cars like range rovers and g wagons. Some M model BMWs and Mercedes AMG can be eye catching but that’s usually do to the colors and the noise they make.

Denali. Wagoneer. Toyota Century. Honestly, almost any new electric car (compared to its ICE equivalent).

I went with a Lexus gx460. No regrets after the first 90k miles

Cadillac CT-5

Any craft beer brewers here?

In the last two year I’ve gotten more and more into alcohol free beer. The selection in my country (Europe) is still small and mainly driven by the big brands (e.g. Heineken). My idea is to start my own small brewery which only produces alcohol free beer as a bit of a pendant to the booming local craft beer industry. Any thoughts on that idea or someone who has experience in the market?

What’s your favorite truck on the market right now (full or mid)?
Finally decided to get a truck (for various reasons, I’ll spare you the details). I really like Tacomas, but I’m 6’3, 230lbs and it kind of feels too small/narrow when I’m sitting in it. Not sure I need a full size truck, although I would love one! TIA

Buy/lease now or defer to Q1-2023?

My car broke (engine seized, 10y old). I am interested in 530i ($62k price), however 3year lease is $1,000+ monthly (with $5k down). Monthly lesse payment is 50% more than bmw advertised offers (“south FL dealers are not participating in the program”)

Q to car gurus/experts- should I defer purchase/lease for 6 months? My logic, the impending recession will reduce demand and we will go back to more balanced market (lower prices with negotiation).

Hi car 🐟

Been looking into 2019 Infiniti QX50, Lincoln MKC, Mazda CX-5, Chevy Equinox, and other similar compact to mid size SUVs but having hard time making the decision.

What are some affordable SUVs that i can buy with ~$25k budget? Hopefully it's post 2019 model and has good fuel economy and reliability (low maintenance cost). I'm less concerned on the mileage but wanting good horsepower (~250hp). Any suggestions? Thanks for your insights.

I really want to do a low key spec on my next car but it’s almost impossible to spec the GTS without black wheels/accents turning it into a more aggressive looking car.

Thoughts on if the GTS in a 7 speed is more engaging than the S enough to justify the compromise in wheel selection?

Alright auto fishes, I’m in the market for a entry level luxury car. Open to used or a lease. I don’t plan to use it as a daily driver, live in an HCOL. Only restriction is that I’d like to keep my monthly costs at no more than $600-$700/month (including insurance, financing / fees, etc; have a parking spot already). Doesn’t have to be a European badge. Thoughts?
