Tacoma‘s are small IMO (I’m 6’4 250lbs). You can upgrade to the tundra but you’ll be paying more.
I like the ram 1500, but I always worry about reliability considering it’s an FCA product.
I would upgrade to the tundra given it just got a redesign a new engine.
Ram 1500. I had a '19 from 2018 till last year and would still have it (well, would've traded it in for a '22) but needed to upgrade to a 3rd row. I will say that engine options are the weak spot for Ram, both Ford and GM have more, and generally better, engine options.
Reliability was good for me and this generation of 1500s is rated about the same as Ford and GM as far as reliability.
Ram has the best interior in the class hands down.
Yes agreed. I have a tacoma 6’1 240lbs and it’s definitely tight for me width wise. I love the truck though so fun to drive, great for most purposes and it’s just badass. The tundra is another level. It doesn’t feel nearly as agile or gritty but it’s a very nice truck. I think if I ever upgrade, I would want something with better gas mileage or maybe an electric. That f150 lightening ??
The tacoma is terrible on gas mileage maybe I get 12 in the city and 17 on the highway. I know the newer power trains on the ford ram and Chevy are slightly better but depending on how you drive just take that into consideration.
Also depending on where you live, the full size truck might be a hassle to park and get around. We live in a close suburb and the tacoma is just about the max size to get into most spots around town. Some of our friends have full size trucks and yeah it’s a lot of park far away and walk :)

I highly recommend the new Nissan Frontier, but unfortunately as with all other car purchases, trucks are highly emotional and Tacos are way more of that than Nissans. Same goes with a full-sized, are you okay not going for the top/biggest engine offered? It’s kinda sacrilegious to not get a V8 (or the very least Fords 3.5 V6). If you can stomach the small engine, you can get a full sized truck for the price of a medium
I personally think the full sized ones are just so much better spec’d. At the end of the day you’re going to be paying for this for the next 5-7 years, so might as well make it sometime you’ll be happy paying for that long
Rivian, by far. Suspension, interior, performance, and size are all spot on.
