Well believe it or not you are more than your job/title/profession. I have not been working for almost an entire year, as a doctor, I have slowed down and figured out what I really want to do;,it’s not fulltime clinical medicine.? If you really want to continue the line of work check out what new skills you can work on that will enhance your resume. There are a lot of free courses out there leading to certification. Take some time to do some fun stuff that you haven’t given your self permission to do. Movies? After Covid movie chains are tripping over themselves to get people back in the theaters. Museums have pay-what-you-can admission. Believe it or not there’s a lot of free cultural things you can do with your library card. You can volunteer to be a foster pet owner go to the animal shelter and see if you can take a puppy or kitten home for a short while . Google “staycation” under the name of your town or city. You can make a video what to do in your town if you had 24 hours or even a weekend.and post it on Instagram. I could go on but you are so much more than that job.
"Touch grass." It's usually stupid, trolly advice, but since I lost my job, I've started to see the merit to it. The first few weeks I pretty much shut myself up in the house and stared at my laptop 24/7, hoping one of my hundreds of applications would lead to an interview request appearing in my inbox. Unsurprisingly, this wasn't great for my mental health. I finally forced myself to get back into the habit of walking again and have found it so beneficial. Being physically active gives you a much-needed endorphin boost and gives you a mental break from the tedium of submitting applications.
I had some issues before being laid off. Needless to say, it was all exacerbated after the fact. Decided I needed legitimate help, but now money was a concern. Found some low-cost resources through a support group. That was huge for me to do and not the answer for everyone, but it is out there if you need it.
