I really feel the pay is not commensurate with skills and experience we bring to our positions. The priorities of the world are way off with professional sports players making millions vs. teachers who impact so many children daily. I also think that we have struggled in retirement more so than other professions due to lack of or weak retirement plans/pensions.

I agree 100%. Some teachers put in way more of their effort and time than they are paid for
The boys club mentality

I think that we face challenges in every profession with balancing the responsibilities of motherhood and our careers. We are desperately needed in the workforce as educators, but society desperately needs dedicated and loving mothers. So, how do we do both well? I am fortunate to work for an organization that tries to support us, but I think as a whole, we are still left feeling like we should be able to do it all and do it perfectly.
Respect. Whether it’s from students or colleagues. I’m not saying it’s everyone, but it’s enough people where it’s an issue.

I do not even know if respect exsist anymore. From what I am seeing in Middle School, the students are right and teachers are sring. I think that load of bull is being spread because of social media and parents.
How little respect it’s getting-I’m hearing that teachers are thought of little more than babysitters and we’re not! I’ve also seen posts from educators saying they wouldn’t recommend becoming a teacher which highlights how grave the situation is. From my experience, women outnumber men in the elementary ages which is the group that got hurt the most in the pandemic. All in all, so many issues with education in general

I would discouraged my nieces and daughter from becoming teachers. Especially after seeing my friend crushed this week because of an accusation from a very mocking, and disrespectful student..
Having to deal with young boys who do not respect you as an authority figure. I feel challenged by a young male student almost every day. I have to have male teachers come in to my class to talk to them sometimes.
Rising Star
Exactly. The same kids who flame up at me or my female coworker, melt under the scrutiny and words of our male coworkers. The same students how mock and laugh at my coworker immediately stop laughing, talking, and yelling when "Coach T" says something to them.
I don’t know if it’s the biggest, but it’s common. Male teachers face less defiance and disrespect in the classroom than women.

Oh, so true! I can't help but wonder why. So many of our students at our school do not have a dad at home and are being raised by their moms or grandmothers. But they are so quick to bow up at a female teacher.
Blatant sexism. So much political garbage has made a large chunk of society feel it is acceptable to treat women poorly.

...and will more than likely continue. I've been an educator for years and while it seems some better right now, it's still crappy.
Having our agreeable temperament and trait openness usher in non academic mental health projects with outside non profit vendors which will exacerbate female social contagion and marginalize boys.

Happy Saturday everyone! Loving that little bit of Fall felling in the air. Enjoy your weekend, Monday comes soon, and back to school
