Bain & Company Got dinged after a final round AC interview with Bain & Company as an experienced hire with 1 YOE. Currently at $75k base salary and on average work 30-40 hours a week.
Considering $15-25k increase in salary, but double the number of work hours, is it worth reapplying to Bain next year or better to wait to apply until after business school?

Would love to hear from recruiters and hiring managers here: are gaps such a red flag?
I personally would appreciate some honesty from a candidate- what they’ve been doing, how they handled the job search, what skills or traits they have built while unemployed. That reveals much more about their ethics and capabilities than any paid work ever does.

I might be wrong but I just tell them I’m looking for the right job.
Hi, I fellyour frustration, I'm in the same situ. But I am owning it. I had a 2nd stage interview (with the client now) who was asking it, yes. I have a 1 year gap which i am not going modify by pretending my last job was l onger. No. I brief them that it is due to the current economic situation and the recent geo-political landscape. Or because - let's face it, the 'stronger' candidate ia either younger or salary expectations lower. BUT. My remit: i've been upskilling on Ai. Have re-written my CV with Ai like 15x. Attended courses on improving my Linkedin profile which were provided by the jobcentre. Asked my old colleagues to write recommendations for me in Linkedin. I have attended job fairs, industry specific seminars and CPD events. Have spoken to recruiters on the current market so i can better navigate it. Asked for their feedback how they see my value based on my CV and how it matches the market. I've completed 3 different online courses related to my industry. ... I am showing them that I am not someone who checks the jobsites in 1/2hr, applies for a few and waits for miracles. I am actively engaging and seeking solutions. I close my response saying that we can consider this gap as a professional sabbatical. Now they either appreciate it or not.
