What do you think is a reasonable billable requirement for a first year associate?

I’ve consistently increased my numbers since getting my first license in May and my second license in October. There’s also an expectation that I engage in marketing, which I’ve done with some success.

Not sharing the current expectation here (at least not yet) because the resounding answer to this question seems to be “LOL, not that”.

My firm is 1800

But the real question is how many of those hours actually get billed to the client

We generally have 3-5 first year associates - within the first 6 months, it becomes obvious the ones that bill their time accurately and the ones that bill 8 hours a day on the same task/project with little sense or what they are actually doing or why

Bottom line: some ppl get it immediately that this is a business and the goal is to bill the client for the work which means we have to work efficiently and not spend 20 hours on westlaw doing random searches

PLC just hit me with a MTC and sanctions because an insured took too long to give me depo dates while he underwent cancer treatment. This is after agreeing to extend discovery by two months. Should I oppose this thing or line my cats litter box?

Anyone have any suggestions for getting a client to cooperate with discovery. We were retained by a insurance company for their insured and he has not returned emails or phone calls in about 4 weeks. Plaintiff’s counsel wants a settlement offer, and discovery responses or they’re gonna file a motion to compel. The company has been made aware of the insured’s noncooperation but they have tell us they’re pulling coverage for us to withdraw.

Anyone ever have to go to Small Claims Court? We just got assigned a case where a Plaintiff is disagreeing with the insurance company’s repair estimate for their vehicle from a fender bender.

I work at a small Midwest ID firm doing mostly MVAs for an Insurance Carrier. Currently have a case where where plaintiff is claiming extensive lost wages from missing tips from working as a bartender/waitress. Place of employment is a strip club, I got a feeling she’s a dancer not a bartender or waitress. But it got me wondering has anyone ran into someone claiming lost wages or revenue from being an OF creator and not being able to crate content due to injury?

I just started working in ID and Workers Comp. and have no substantial work experience in either. The closest experience I have is some personal injury work. Any advice transitioning into this area of law and how I can become better acquainted with this area of law, mainly procedural stuff? Thanks in advance!

What is the consensus on whether to mention in depo reports to a client that a Plaintiff or witness is attractive? I know its inappropriate, but we can't deny that kind of thing matters to jurors and should be part of any consideration of settlement, right?
