"Is there a place for someone like me with absolutely no education or experience in the field?" Yes. I had no marketing background and have made a career of it. You can too. You need a mix of creativity and analytical ability. Creativity to come up with novel ideas and strategies, analytics to assess those efforts and refine as needed.
Start taking some courses and leverage anything you’ve done. It doesn’t have to be marketing-related. First role might not be a dream, but aim for anything just to get started if you are serious. Does anyone else come from an unconventional background? Those are usually the stronger talents. You just need to master the basics.
Curiosity, hands down. If you’re genuinely curious about people, why they do what they do, and what makes them choose one thing over another, you can learn the rest. There’s absolutely space for people who come in non‑traditional ways, as long as you’re willing to learn and show work.

Curious what field your transferring from and what particular skills or perspective that you brought made people suggest that? Ultimately it’s not brain surgery and you can learn as you go and creativity and instinct can get you far in the field in my opinion
