Proficient is like the best basketball player in your high school. Expert is like LeBron James.
How might that translate in terms of skills or programs within insurance though?
I'd say proficient suggests that you are perfectly capable and knowledgeable and expert is like you have been doing this for 20 years. I think time spent is a better indicator than these silly terms though.
I think of proficient as being able to do the job ,understanding the processes and hitting KPIs.
Expert maybe goes a step further like being able to act as trainer /QA in the subject matter , and a "go to" on the process and best practices.
