I wish I had listened to my intuition and paid closer attention to how my now-manager was talking about his current employees. It ended up being a huge foreshadowing of how he treats me. I always think it's a good idea to ask employers about their current team and observe for negative behavior towards their subordinates.
Fresh out of college , probably the third interview I had been on ever. The first interview I’ve been on with that company. They offered me the role on the spot and asked if I could start the following Monday. I was young and eager and jumped in that opportunity, but boy was that a red flag that I should’ve ran.
* At that opportunity. I jumped at that opportunity.
Good day everyone, please I need your advice on this to know if I did the right thing or not.
I got an interview invite for the position of HR Generalist which I attended,so after the interview, the interviewer asked me when I would be able to resume,I gave them two weeks notice.
After the interview,I expected the organization to send me their offer letter in order to determine the time of my resignation from my current employer but I noticed that the whole process was just too slow before they finally sent their offer letter, infact it's just as if the person in charge of the whole process don't know what he/she was doing not until I send another kind reminder email cos without an offer,I can't tender my resignation letter.
They finally sent their offer letter,I decided to go through it as everyone else should do. Out of my curiosity on the terms and conditions on the things that aren't clear enough to me. I decided to asked the HR team who sent me the offer letter some questions based on the offer letter. Some of these questions comprises of :
* Net pay after all statutory deduction(not stated)
* Resumption time and closing hour of the day (not stated)
* A section where I would be required to work Saturday and Sunday but no information about overtime related stature on that and how flexible it could be incase I'm not available in some situation.
* Worked life balance related questions for career growth. E.t.c
These are some of the questions I asked which i feel isn't bad.
They didn't respond after 3 days,so I decided to forward another kind reminder email but they are yet to reply to it,this got me start thinking if there's any wrong in asking questions on term and condition that aren't clear enough.
My experience about accepting a job offer without proper research or asking necessary question has made me more careful before accepting any offers cos I had a bad experience in one organization like that, the owners are terrible, environment is very toxic,I just had to resign from that role for my mental health.
So my question is, what do you suggest I do in a situation like this?
Have I done anything wrong to ask questions about offer letter presented to me?
Should I continue to reach out to them cos they're yet to reply or I should just let them be.
