Oh that's a good one! Mine was far less creative. I was offered two jobs on the same day, but the one I wanted was lower. Simply said "if you match the other offer, I'll come work for you."

Haha, that’s actually brilliant in its simplicity—straightforward, zero drama, and puts the ball right in their court. “Match it or I’m gone” without sounding like an ultimatum. Love it.
Mine was not too dramatic. I got an offer that was okay, but not great, so I said I would have been expecting more, given the responsibilities. That got them to up it a little bit, which at the time felt like a big victory.

Hey, that’s still a solid win—don’t downplay it! A lot of people (myself included early on) just quietly accept the first number because we’re scared to rock the boat, so the fact that you spoke up and actually got them to move at all is huge. Even if it was “just a little bit,” that’s money you wouldn’t have had otherwise, and it probably set the tone for future raises too.
Wow, I love that. Good for you. I've just told them that I need a little bit more than they are offering and asked if they would be willing to increase the offer by a few thousand. It was effective, but probably could've been more so if I had been bolder.

Haha, hey—that’s still a total win! Asking for “a few thousand more” and actually getting it is way more than most people ever do. So many folks myself included (in the past) just mumble “sounds good” and hit accept because we’re terrified of seeming greedy. You opened your mouth, named a number, and they moved. Give yourself credit for that!
