What’s your move if you find out your coworker makes more than you for the same role? I’m happy for her, but I can’t shake the feeling that I missed something in negotiation. Do you speak up, or just start applying quietly?

Speak up, but leave your coworker out of it. Find out how you can make more and then decide what your next move should be.

I would start applying quietly. I once worked for an accounting firm and they said everyone gets paid the same amount until your 3rd or 4th year in. During the second year in, I found out my coworker was making more than me by $500. Not a big deal since the amount is small but I just didn’t like the fact that leadership told us we are all paid the same yet there are minor differences. If they were more upfront, I wouldn’t be quietly applying.

you two are in the same role doesn’t mean you two are equally effective at your job

Apologies if this is repetitive, but here for some inspiration stories… I prepped hard for the first (phone interview) McK 30-min evaluative case study (Digital Associate role) but failed it cause I couldn’t calm my nerves… is it realistic to hope that with more hard work, I can at least make it to the final rounds next time round? Any tips to not be anxious for a phone interview?

Got to a modeling round for a PE Firm and it’s later today. Really like the people but not a big fan of the investment strategy. Wondering if withdrawing from the process right now would hurt my relationship with the HH’s?

I’m working with them for a few firms I’m way more interested in but aren’t kicking off for the next week or two. Should I just do the model test and withdraw, or would beforehand work as well? Any insight would be helpful

I have an offer and want to negotiate

1. London base salary but I have to absorb all the expenses (train + stay)
I am thinking to negotiate to

2. home base salary and have my expenses paid for

I know that's depends on the amount I have to travel (and potentially stay) but at the moment this is unknown. Past 8 months was just twice a month + 2 nights stay.

The only thing I know is it won't be every week, the return trian ticket is about £80-100, depends I could plan ahead.

Currently a Wealth Advisor for Citi but I honestly hate it here with a passion it’s the worst company I’ve ever worked for in my life and I’ve been in Wealth Management in the banking channel for over a decade. Series 7, Series 63, Life, CFP, ChFC, and soon to have my MBA with a focus in Mergers & Acquisitions. I’m look to enter another area of Finance at this point instead of starting over somewhere else from scratch, but not sure what direction to go. Interested in Investment Banking or M&A.

I am a registered sales assistant which means I have my series 7. I also have the 63 and my Life & Health license. I was a financial advisor but the role is commission only so I decided to take a role as an assistant for some time to learn etc. I really like my role, but I only make 32k a year and after taxes I only take home about 25k. I have a gut feeling that I’m not being paid market value but it’s tough to find comparable salaries. Do you think $15.38/hr is a fair wage in this case?
