Nope, senior is still super young in your career.

Internal transfer would let you keep your title but it may take forever for the transfer. I would say Interview around and ask for transfer/rotation internally at the same time.
I would say money is more important than title so if another firms pays you same/more but downgrade the title, I would go with it. I switched tax groups as senior and only lost 2 years in overall progression.

No, I think you’ll find that a lot more of your knowledge is transferable than you think, especially in business tax.

smart

It’s not.

I did just that in 2018 after 5 years in audit. Gotta look at the long term picture, I would rather spend the next 25 years doing what I want even though I spent 5 years in audit. I was 34 at the time.

You have a lot more options as as auditor… are you sure you want to go into tax? Feel like there are some better options if you’re worried about wlb, pay, etc..

like

^i only did two years in tax but really didn’t like it… there were long hours and most of the work revolves around prepping and reviewing returns, which is not super interesting. Sure it gets a little better as you move up.

Switched as S1 out of tax. So yeah I wouldn’t worry about it.

I ensured they kept me as a S1 when I switched.

Hi everyone, I'm new to Canada and want to start my career here in the Financial and Banking industry. I have passed the CFA level 2 exam and was wondering if I have to complete the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) as most of the job postings here mention about it. I saw that if someone passes at least the CFA level 1 exam then the requirement of CSC is exempted. Can anyone enlighten me about this? As the CSC exam costs above 1000 CAD, I wanted to be sure if I need it before investing behind it.

Decided that I’m leaving audit today. Trying to understand the full range of opportunities in forensics. Will have my CPA and CFE. So far, I understand that there are client-serving firms like FTI and then the B4 will have forensics arms as well. What are some other forensic accounting roles? Pros and cons? Better than audit? Honestly just looking to learn anything.

I have a governmental entity client in Texas that wants to offer 6 weeks of paid parental leave for all employees, even those who aren’t eligible for FMLA. After the paid 6 weeks, the employee can choose to continue paid leave using any accrued personal leave.

Texas does not have a paid parental leave statute.

If paid leave above what is required is offered for parents, do we also have to provide the same benefit to other employees that are eligible for unpaid leave?
