People are tired. Not in a "I need a few extra hours sleep" kind of way. In a "my world is collapsing and I can't do anything about it" defeated kind of way. People were already overworked just to struggle to survive in the growing cost of living crisis, and then they had the one benefit that makes things easier taken away from them. Add to that that most of us don't know how much longer we'll have a job at all for. People feel like they have nothing to work for any more, so why bother.

Gen Z here, and I'm getting really tired of these type of articles that make us out to be lazy, ungrateful brats because we call out the fact that we have no hope for any kind of quality of life. If you want us to work harder, pay us enough to live.

We seriously screwed your generation, and all the generations to come, over. You have the right to be righteously pissed off. I would be too. I would say sorry but it's so completely inadequate to the failure of protecting the earth for the following generations.

Task-masking has definitely increased since return-to-office mandates. Before, performance was measured by actual work completed, but now, I see people stretching out meetings, walking around with a clipboard, and sending unnecessary emails—just to appear busy. The irony? They were more productive when working remotely. I think it’s a side effect of outdated management styles where visibility matters more than results. In my agency, I focus on documenting my actual contributions so I don’t get caught up in the performative nonsense.
