When someone gets promoted but they were hired after you and you’re genuinely happy for them but crying inside too #promotions

Oh, I feel this! My favorite coworker just got promoted yesterday and it's hard not to be bitter about it. She's way more outgoing and always chatting up our boss, so I feel like that plays in her favor because we both have the same education/experience, etc. Don't mind me, just going to go cry in the bathroom.

Having a way with words and chatting your way up to a promotion is what I've seen. Communication and people skills... leadership, ownership.. extroversion (even if it's fake) lol. all play a role. Crying with you, don't worry

The person I trained was promoted instead of me because they had a more outgoing personality and became friends with the boss. I am mad and will continue to be mad forever 😂

Yea this literally happened to me too. But had to let go of that bitterness it was holding me back. We're up next!

Isn't that the WORST? Like, what's wrong with ME? I dealt with this a lot early in my career. Looking back, I still had so much to learn about the industry, so now I get it. But at the time, it felt like a gut punch.

What do you feel like you get now that you didn't know before? What do you think earned them a promotion and not you?

I have felt this many times. And I know so many things factor into it but still. Its hard not to feel a little jealous that I am not the one getting the promotion.

given you're supervisor now, at what point did you get promoted? Are you up for a promo next?

I will possibly be getting a machinist role through some contacts, and I have no experience in the field and I’m wondering what I could expect to make, when I look up average salaries for a machinist position I see around 65k but that seems too good for my age and experience so I’m wondering what some others in the trade on here are making

Hello, I am a junior business administrator working in advisory operations. I have been with the company for 6 months, and was employed along with 2 other colleagues. I have picked the job up really fast and am even doing some “extra curricula’s” I really love my job. However I have recently found out I am being paid the same as an apprentice on my team, I usually do at 3 x the work he does whilst also doing my Cert CII. It has really disheartened me and I feel I should be earning more money

A HR question I really want to understand. ISRS HR quoted a podcast "The not so great resignation" saying 70% regret leaving and many want to go back to old employer. If this really the case the employee likely left due to higher pay at the new company. If they want to boomerang back they will likely come back at even a higher rate than they left the new company for. So getting double raise when they boomeranged. Isn't it unbeneficial, why not just give employee a 7% raise in the first place?
