UPDATE: I'm delighted to got the role I was seeking and will start in a month. Stayed at the same bank, different organization, got a 10% bump in salary and can even work remote when I would have had to commute had I stayed. Funny how things work out.
Think changing jobs is the best way to get a raise. Feel designers in general have been underpaid forever, I’ve personally accepted too little for too long and am waiting on annual bonus to decide next steps - whether to stay in my current org (mega bank) or go externally (riskier). Consulting and contract work is always an option as well (riskiest) and can pay the most with less FTE benefits. Thoughts?
When you work at a bank with tight security and an NDA, how do you build a portfolio of work and where. Any pro tips?

Kudos for responding to the convo - trying to get this “bowl” rolling.
Likely staying at my bank - internal options I’ve since discovered, interviewed for and am considering switching to. In general, at the bank, the quality of work has been uninspired and I’ve been itching for a change in management, and less siloed work I can do in my sleep.
