I’m a bit newer to data science and recently read through a few academic case studies on ethical fairness in ML/modeling. Would love to start a thread to hear some more from data scientist/ML perspective.
The most harmful example I came across was bias in ML for the criminal justice system.

Is anyone currently in a data science/ML position willing to share their thoughts/maybe an example based on experience? Thinking about how to actively prevent this kind of bias in future models

I am indian with priority date of sept 2016, I-140 approved from prev emplyr and current employer just started the PWD process. So New perm filling looks like 6-8 months away + 6 more months for perm to get approved.
I am hearing that there are high chances the Filing date for both EB2/3 will move this year in Oct.
What should be my move then, should i go back to old employer and compromise on salary for 6 months.
OR
Stay with current emp and wait till next year to file I-149+i-485 concurrentl

I have 9 years of experience and working in EY GDS with a fixed salary of 35lpa. I have received an offer from EY UK and they have offered 65k pounds. I know it’s less but please let me know if that’s okay given the fact that my wife has an offer of 50k pounds.

So I say this with complete humility and an understanding that this is a fortunate-ish situation to be in. I’m in a position where I am tied to nothing, I have no children, spouse, or house. My job, which I’ve loved until some recent significant leadership changes, is sucking the life out of me and I think it may be time for a change. Because I am able to “pick up and go” I’m open to opportunities and locations. I’ve never worked with a recruiter but was hoping I could get some recommendations!

I been at my job for three year now, for a while now I been applying for other positions within my job because I want to leave my department. I don’t feel value and appreciated. Work to Billable Ratio First-year: interesting observation after about three months of work, I bill about 2/3 of my “working time.” I’ve compared my productive days because I’ve had some pretty intense outliers recently. On days where I bill 8+, the work to bill ratio is exactly about 66%. Work 12, bill 8. Work 18, bill 12. Have you noticed any interesting trends about your billables like this?

I find that me and my bf often spend our weekends just doing homebody things alone and because of that we don't really feel the need to hang out with each other (even though we also don't see each other during the week bc of work). I have given interview in LTI on 20th August which was pull campus so L1,L2 and HR all three rounds over on same day and I was told in HR round only that you are Final Selected. I got documents submission mil on 22nd August and I submitted it, But till now(2nd September) I have not got any mail for offer letter. How much time it will still? Can anyone help me on this?
