Treat all genders the same and the grand majority will reciprocate. The ones that don't tend to be problematic, and that's usually one red flag of many.
I’ve had positive and negative experiences. I am totally generalizing based on my experience: positives - take things less personally and are less defensive than women I manage; able to compartmentalize better. Cons - mansplaining. Especially with feedback. While not defensive about it, they tend to want to explain why I am wrong 🤣
I’ve experienced more issues with female subordinates than males! I really thought it would be the other way around, but that was my experience. Had a lot of arguments through every decision I would make, and while I am open to different opinions, they were always aggressively brought up.
I've found that there really isn't much of a difference between managing men or women, I've had positive and negative experiences with both. The main issues I've had have been age related, sometimes it's difficult for people to be managed by someone who is younger than them since they feel as though they know better than me.
Younger: They are fine
Older: They are INSUFFERABLE.
Depends on the person - some toxic males will second guess everything and constantly be posturing, I think it’s influenced by who mentored them when they were first starting out in the professional world and if that mentor was a toxic male watch out!
They’ve all been younger than me but mostly great. I’m a straight shooter so that tends to go over well and everyone knows what’s up so there are typically no surprises. Coworkers is a different story. Especially older men.
