You give your two week notice, employer demands to know where you are going or they won’t let you work the two weeks. What do you do?

So this is different as a Financial Advisor… the reason for their request in knowing where your going is due to “Protocol for Broker Recruiting”… if your moving from Protocol to Protocol, you are generally allowed to take Client names, addresses, phone numbers, and email… it also provides lower litigation risk, and a cleaner exit… meaning they will allow you to take this information…

If you are moving from Protocol to Non-Protocol, it presents higher litigation risk, and you are not allowed to take such information…

If you decline to answer, then they assume the worst…

Not working the two weeks is common in our business… we will give you the “garden leave”… and most advisors quickly go to their new firms office and begin recruiting their book of business before their clients are reassigned to another advisor…

This is standard… they’re not trying to be intrusive, they’re trying to better understand which stance they need to take… if you are going from Protocol to Protocol, you may be shooting yourself in the foot by not providing this information…

100% the right answer.

Lots of folks in this thread making incorrect assumptions.

When your employer asks where you're going after giving your two weeks' notice, you can politely decline to share that information, emphasising your commitment to a smooth transition. While it's generally legal for them to ask, you're not obliged to disclose your next steps. If they refuse to let you work the notice period over this, it may breach your contract, depending on local labour laws, so consider seeking legal advice to understand your rights.

Not required to disclose, but they don’t have to let you work those last two weeks.

I don’t think I would care if I had to leave that day and could enjoy some extra time off 😂

It’s none of their business, period. A lot of companies do immediately escort you out, for security reasons. So not finishing out that notice isn’t uncommon.

You can simply say that i do not want to disclose the information yet

Is there a reason you don’t want them to know? If so, then let them cut you loose. This type of thing is why I never give a two weeks notice in the first place

For anyone in this bowl. How crucial is it for you to have a formal dining room separated from the kitchen? My son and daughter-in-law are buying a house for their future family and I'm trying to convince them a formal dining room looks better and makes things less chaotic in the kitchen, especially with kids. Am I out of touch? Or is it still important?

Now with the last two years I've added game production in Unity, C#, 3D modeling and animation, level design, narrative design, and asset management to my skillset. I'm unable to support myself.

Curious what’s a fair salary in MA? Was just told that there is likely not going to be a chance for a raise during my upcoming performance review due to my salary already being “above average for the industry” based on my employer’s questionable research. I’ve been with the company 8.5 years & am the only one in my role, which they can’t operate without. I execute tasks from two investment advisors and two financial planners - they make the decisions of what should happen & I make it happen.

Currently a Wealth Advisor for Citi but I honestly hate it here with a passion it’s the worst company I’ve ever worked for in my life and I’ve been in Wealth Management in the banking channel for over a decade. Series 7, Series 63, Life, CFP, ChFC, and soon to have my MBA with a focus in Mergers & Acquisitions. I’m look to enter another area of Finance at this point instead of starting over somewhere else from scratch, but not sure what direction to go. Interested in Investment Banking or M&A.

User experience mgr salary? I support six product teams and eight reports. 20+ years experience

I am a registered sales assistant which means I have my series 7. I also have the 63 and my Life & Health license. I was a financial advisor but the role is commission only so I decided to take a role as an assistant for some time to learn etc. I really like my role, but I only make 32k a year and after taxes I only take home about 25k. I have a gut feeling that I’m not being paid market value but it’s tough to find comparable salaries. Do you think $15.38/hr is a fair wage in this case?
