I agree it’s a bit invasive. I think that as long as it specifies what “bank” we are pulling from that should be enough.
I always wondered why the reason is on there. I’m pretty vague, and it’s never been an issue. CCA1 makes a good point that I hadn’t considered. If you had jury duty, for example, it has to be logged a certain way.
I've never understood this either. The reason shouldn't matter if I've got the PTO and my absence won't be missed. I just say something vague about having to take care of my kids or take them to a doctor's appointment or something like that.
What if you just put on the line PTO or something like that? Are they going to question it? I don't think you should have to give a reason.

That’s so true… I never really thinking about it. We are so micromanaged at our jobs that we do not think of things like this. We shouldn’t be allowed to say what we are taking off for. Especially if we’ve been loyal to a company for years.
My company has a line for reason for requesting off as well. I will ignore it or put something ridiculous on the line. No one has noticed my dad has gotten married three times since June lol.
