It’s 2020. Is a small dainty nose ring still perceived as unprofessional in the workplace? I work in the finance industry.

Yes.

With regards to work etiquette, the only ring that should be worn is on the ring finger (if applicable).

like

Finance is very conservative...I’d say no on the nose ring to be safe. Unless you see someone much more senior than you wearing one. Also depends on your role- client-facing may mean less flexibility in dress codes.

Networking question here. A retired partner at the firm I used to work out reached out to me recently about attending an afternoon during the week (b4 4/30) with one of his long time clients. The partner and I have kept in touch since I joined my new firm and I feel like his invitation is a great networking opportunity since the client (who I have worked with before) is on a number of boards. Torn as how to request off as an S3. Could materialize to nothing but could be good for reconnecting.

If an employee mentions something disparaging or accusatory about their manager during an exit interview, how would you handle? What happens if what the employee said is slanderous and a “he said/she said” situation? I.e. employee claimed the manager made a disparaging remark about an item of clothing being worn by someone in accordance with their beliefs. If you opt to share the feedback with the manager, would the manager have a legal case against the company or former employee?

I’m thousands of miles away from my family and I just want everything to stop. But when my manager kept asking in front of everyone am I

Offering advice to job seekers who go around recruiters and message hiring teams, execs, etc. You are putting the Recruiters job in danger. If a Recruiter declines you or doesn’t choose to reach out, it is because the hiring team declined you, or you don’t have the experience. You will most likely not be considered for future roles because of this. When I see people giving advice to reach outside the Recruiter, it’s bad advice. Very rare is this a good idea.
