Three years in and the longest vacation I’ve taken is two days off during the work week. Any tips for scheduling vacations when vacation policy has always been “unlimited, but hit your target”?

Just came back today to the office from a 3 day bereavement leave. Performance reviews were apparently done Tuesday. Senior partner who does the reviews left out of town Wednesday. Concerning?
Normal to still not have had a performance review? Firm did it last year before the first pay of the year which has already passed. I’m a second year associate. Should I ask other associates around?

My secretary gets upset/anxious whenever I ask her to file a thing that she doesn’t know how to do or takes time to do... I’m afraid of making her upset, but also think that’s her job ...
How can I get into international arbitration? My firm has only one person who does this work and I’m considering a lateral somewhere that does more of this work, but recruiters want past experience.

What does being a “great lawyer” mean to you? The term is thrown around so frequently, it sometimes loses its meaning and probably means entirely different things to different people.
